Description
Golden Turmeric Chai earned Seven Seas Tea a silver medal at the 2018 Golden Leaf Awards, and one slow stovetop brew explains why: organic turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper and nutmeg, simmered into a cup the colour of late-afternoon sun.
This is a spice blend rather than a leaf tea, so the flavour builds in the pot — earthy turmeric out front, ginger’s warmth behind it, cinnamon and nutmeg rounding the edges, and a pinch of black pepper adding a gentle bite at the finish. Made with milk it turns lush and golden; brewed straight, it’s lighter but no less aromatic.
Brewing the golden cup
- Stovetop (serves two): simmer a teaspoon per cup in a cup of water, three to four minutes
- Add a cup of milk (coconut, nut, soy or dairy) and give it another three to four minutes
- Sweeten with a teaspoon or two of honey, strain and serve hot
- No milk? Half a teaspoon in boiling water, three to four minutes, honey to taste

How do I make a turmeric latte with this chai?
For two serves, simmer 1 teaspoon per cup in a saucepan with a cup of water for 3–4 minutes, add a cup of milk (dairy, nut, soy or coconut) and simmer another 3–4 minutes, then strain and sweeten with honey. Prefer it lighter? Just infuse half a teaspoon in boiling water for 3–4 minutes.
Does golden turmeric chai contain any tea leaves?
No — the blend is made entirely of spices: organic turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper and nutmeg. That makes it a lovely cup of golden goodness in the evening as you wind down.
