Description
Foie Gras Block Duck 65g is what we call weeknight luxury — a small tin of Comtesse du Barry’s duck bloc, made for an apéritif for two rather than a banquet.
Duck is the more robust of the two foie gras styles we import: bold, savoury and instantly satisfying. This bloc follows the same 1954 recipe the house has always used, blending a number of foies gras before cooking so the texture stays fine and barely any fat escapes in the tin — open it and you’ll find a neat, smooth bloc ready to slice.
An apéritif, done properly
- Take it from the fridge fifteen minutes ahead, so the aromas open up
- Lay slices on lightly toasted sourdough with a pinch of fleur de sel
- A few grapes or a sliver of fresh fig to cut the richness
- A chilled glass of Champagne, and suddenly Tuesday feels like France
Farm-raised in South-West France
The ducks behind this bloc are born, raised, fed and cooked in France — farm-raised in the South-West, then prepared without additives in Comtesse du Barry’s workshops in Gimont, the Gascon village where the company started in 1908. It’s the benchmark French bloc we measure everything else against.

Frequently asked questions
What is a block (bloc) of duck foie gras?
It is a traditional recipe Comtesse du Barry introduced in 1954 and has never changed: several duck foies gras are blended before cooking, which limits the fat released and gives a consistent quality, fine presentation and smooth cut — all without additives.
Where are the ducks for this foie gras raised?
Comtesse du Barry uses exclusively ducks born, raised, fed and cooked in France — farm-raised, free-range birds from South West France, supplied by fully traceable breeders in the house's own cooperative.
What is the proper way to eat foie gras?
Above all, avoid spreading it. Place a slice on toasted sourdough, brioche or spiced bread and let it melt against the palate — the pleasure comes immediately. Serve it chilled, taken from the fridge 15 minutes before tasting.
What accompaniments suit duck foie gras?
A slightly sweet wine such as Sauternes, Gewürztraminer or Champagne, plus fresh or dried fruits and chutneys. For a modern touch, add flavour pearls — balsamic, lemon black pepper or native bush tomato — and serve on Margaret River crackers.
How should I store the foie gras tin?
Keep it refrigerated between +2 and +4°C, and never put foie gras in the freezer — it will damage the texture and alter the aromas. The 65g tin is a perfect single-occasion entrée size.
How much does delivery cost for Foie Gras Block Duck 65g?
